Is it thru implication that the republicans are considered the bastion of verical power and the democrats horizontal. Since its not explicit, it remains uncertain. Is horizontal power code for socialism and vertical for some form of fascism? It seems that, either way, creating a system with a hegelian dialectic embedded into it is not going to work out well. And remaining locked into a false binary of republican vs democrat is such a waste of time, since their masters further up the chain simply play each group and their supporters off against each other. If someone thinks Trump is evil incarnate but Obama or Clinton not, then there is not much that can be done to see they are all on the same side, against, we, the people. Take, for eg, this old talk by Aldous Huxley, who wrote his book, Brave New World, as a blue print for the world we have. People think his book is against the elite, but he IS the elite, and thru the Fabian Society, Tavistock Institute, Royal Institute for International Affairs, and others such as the Standford Research Institute, etc., especially the euphemistic Centre for the Study of Democratic Institutions (Santa Barbara 1959-77), which had the aim to subvert the very democratic processes it supposedly promoted...

When he says stuff like "problem", he refers to totalitarianism not as something to dampen or that it is a negative thing, but, in fact, he sees it as the very opposite. For Huxley, the "problem" relates how to facilitate the arrival of the "ultimate revolution", not to stop it. Huxley was a eugenicist, just like his friend and co-founder of the Fabian Society, George Bernard Shaw.
