A few weeks ago, I ventured down to Spirit Yoga Studio in Osaka to attend a yoga-related workshop by Adrian Cox. Recently, Adrian located to Kobe after having spent almost 20 years in Bangkok where he set up and ran Thailand’s well-known yoga studio, Yoga Elements. Having renounced ties and beginning anew in Japan, I was looking forward to experiencing a class by this highly-respected teacher.
I had met Adrian a few times prior, and had some very interesting conversations about all the things: life, love, yoga, adversity and moving into and through our fears. What strikes me about Adrian is his fearless vulnerability. That might sound odd, no? What I mean is that there is an eternal optimism sparked by a sense that the world is inherently an amazing place. It is an optimism not based on naivety, but, rather, on a life lived and lessons learnt. I personally think that this is an invaluable trait for any teacher, no matter which topic they facilitate the learning of.
